A Ghillie Suit Poem
An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

Way back in the day, when I was a kid,
Greg and I were close, just like twins.
He played Superman, and all his mom did,
(Was) Put a towel on his back with safety pins.
Now my all-time favorite super hero,
Was DC Comicís earthy Swamp Thing.
But mom's costuming talents were zero.
To the extent that she couldn't knot a string.
So she (just) glued cabbage on my baseball cap.
Man, it was the lamest costume ever.
But I decided not to give Mom crap.
Thanking her instead for being so clever.
Speaking of capes, I once became Thor,
Cause his super strength I did crave.
And The Flash was cool, but I wanted more.
Yeah, the Swamp Thing was still my fav.
But when the cabbage started to smell,
The time had come to stop being Swamp Thing.
Iíd always thought Green Lantern was swell,
Besides, all I needed for him was a ring.
Now I'm an adult, but still yearn to be,
The all-natural eco crusader.
There have been advances in technology,
Since back when I was a third grader.
Who knew that the perfect Swamp Thing rig,
Was available at the Bass Pro Shop.
I was in their catalog, checking out Sigs.
I've told my wife: "Just 2 more, then I'll stop."
They call this new getup a "ghillie suit."
Not the kind of suit they wear with ties.
No, these went well with my camo boots.
I drove over hoping that they had my size.
Once finally there, my prayers were answered.
I took a pose exactly like the comic's drawn.
In that fitting room, fantasy passions stirred.
This would be perfect for next year's comic con.
I'll be the perfect match for Poison Ivy.
But in the mean time, other uses I'll find.
Moose and elk won't know what to make of me.
I'll have no use for a friggin' deer blind.
