California College Sports [Part 1 of my College Trilogy]

I've been told that California,

Now has a law so that college athletes,

Earn some coin by selling their name.

So if your son or daughter, is college shopping.

Let coaches who call, from other states, know...

California plays a different game.

Here's the AP Top 25 Poll as of 09-29-2019

VERSE 1

Surfing on the internet,

Saw something I can't forget,

Not one single California school,

On the football ranking poll.

That was in late September,

So legislative members,

Passed a law to change the rules,

So they might get into a bowl.

VERSE 2

Every single sophomore,

Heading for the Left Shore,

Is working hard on his penmanship,

So autographs have appeal.

But Heismans and gold medals.

Are what an agent pedals.

When you sign with one, on a campus trip,

Your expectations should be real.

CHORUS

I've been told that California,

Now has a law so that college athletes,

Earn some cash by selling their name.

VERSE 3

They're hurtin' like the devil,

Cause the field is way too level.

The fact is that UCLA,

Has become Cincinnati's bitch. [Football scores: 2018: 26-17, 2019: 24-14]

Sadly, loosing's epidemic.

But they still have academics!

Nobody cares at the NCAA,

Golden State programs are stuck in the ditch.

VERSE 4

Who could have known that USC,

Would poach the coach of Tennessee.

True that the ambition, of Coach Lane Kiffin,

Made loyalty a secondary concern.

The Vol's feelings toward Kiffin are quite strident.

Some folks in Knoxville even carry a trident.

After the Sun Devils issued USC a butt kickin'.

Upon landing, "You're fired!", is what Lane learned.
