Cell Phone History [Part 3 of my Telephone Trilogy]
An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro
Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.
VERSE 1
So your sweet heart's actions are a mystery.
She behaves as if something's amiss.
Time to consult her cell phone history.
It's the catalog of those she might kiss.
VERSE 2
The cellular phone is certainly not a toy.
Capable of much more than ordering takeout.
So here's a trick you might try to employ,
If you suspect that your girl is stepping out.
VERSE 3
Explain to her that you've lost your cell,
After you've fully turned down the ringer.
If she replies that it's probably just as well,
The reality should hit you like a stinger.
VERSE 4
You see, a nice girl has a different response.
They're always willing to help those in need.
As opposed to one who feigns nonchalance.
She'd just as soon that the search not proceed.
VERSE 5
If it means someone else handles her phone.
And by 'someone else' I mean you.
Should she holler: "Hey, leave my cell alone!"
Your worst suspicions may be true.
VERSE 6
After all, she did talk to that waiter,
At the restaurant where the okra is fine.
I should have returned for a word with him later.
Make him understand that she was all mine.
VERSE 7
What about that incident at the poetry reading?
She commented that another poet's work was excellent.
Her obvious flirtation had me seething.
I see now that her indiscretions are prevalent.
VERSE 8
What's that you say: "She was just being social."
Well you didn't see the look on her face.
What her eyes said nearly made me go postal.
I'm getting a license to carry, just in case.
VERSE 9
Anyway, go ahead and do what you want.
If you don't see why I'm making such a fuss.
Imagine a high number of texts to Vermont,
And maple syrup isn't all that's discussed.
VERSE 10
So your girl's actions are a mystery.
She behaves as if something's amiss.
Time to consult her cell phone history.
It's the catalog of those she might kiss.
THE END
