Cross The Ocean [Part 1 of my Abortion Trilogy]
Poetry by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro
Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.
VERSE 1
OK, you fell victim to cupid.
And well known effects of alcohol.
You knew that the guy was stupid.
But he was sexy, and very tall.
You'd share a cab, that was all.
CHORUS
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
Sail the sea,
For your D.N.C.
For gynecological procedures,
Without crowds of true believers,
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
VERSE 2
Though somewhat remote,
Europe's here for you.
So when justices vote,
And Rowe v. Wade is through,
What's a rich girl gonna do?
CHORUS
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
Sail the sea,
For your D.N.C.
If you missed the Morning After Pill,
After dates with Thurgood, Jose, or Bill.
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
BRIDGE
There once was a gal,
From Nantucket.
Took a pregnancy test,
And she flunked it.
Since the sex was with a stranger,
She sought out a travel arranger,
For a seat on a Trans-Atlantic junket.
VERSE 3
A cover story will be requisite.
If it's winter, you're going skiin'.
Describe the places you will visit,
Or the kin folk you'll be seein'.
Port of call: European.
CHORUS
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
Sail the sea,
For your D.N.C.
For gynecological procedures,
Without crowds of true believers,
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
BRIDGE 2
This message is for the well to do:
Western Europe is where you should go.
Come now.
The common folk will make due,
Maybe get down to Mexico,
Somehow.
CHORUS
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
Sail the sea,
For your D.N.C.
If you missed the Morning After Pill,
After dates with Thurgood, Jose or Bill.
Cross the ocean,
For your abortion.
The End.
