Begin

We saw them play the Slippery Noodle         [Note:  'them' is Indy's W.T. Feaster Band]

A downtown bar and grill

Hopin' to hear a blues kit and caboodle

Drove up from Louisville.

My sister and I heard "Back For More" and "Out of Time."

"Long Overdue" was quite a treat.

Stepped out for a shake, then came back to find,

Feaster's keyboardist there in my seat.

Indianapolis,

Heart of the Hoosier State

Indianapolis,

Round ball lover, this is the place.

Oh yeah!

Indianapolis,

Home to the best auto race

Indianapolis,

Five Hundred Mile Speedway.

Yeah, forget the past

We're winning without Payton Manning

But bless his heart.

Our hope for the Colts:

Andrew Luck has a Super Bowl start.    (I mean real soon!)

Indianapolis,

Marion County Seat.

Indianapolis,

Come for your next retreat.

Both of my folks were brought up country

Fresh fruit their Christmas gift.

Mom packed the meat at Hygrade's Kingan.

During the second shift.

Dad worked on a press at Richardson,

A rubber plant.

Inhaling pollutants all day.

Still I wouldn't blame them for his emphysema.

Cigarettes he smoked anyway.

Indianapolis,

As green as Tennessee.

Indianapolis,

No Chicago winters for me, no no

Indianapolis,

Crown jewel of I-Sixty-five.

Indianapolis,

Continue to revive, yeah.

Indianapolis,

Marion County Seat.

Indianapolis,

Proud to say it's somewhat off beat, yee haw.

Indianapolis,

Heart of the Hoosier State

Indianapolis,

That Butler U. can play.         [Note:  The Butler University Bulldogs, but I attended DePauw University myself .  Go Tigers!  :~)  ]
