Mexican Foreign Aid

An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.

VERSE 1

2016 was the Year of our Lord.

A maverick had the Left in a panic.

The massive wall he sought, we could not afford.

His solution was unique, and Hispanic.

CHORUS

Mexico!

Yeah, Mexico!

Our partners in foreign trade.

Maybe it would be wiser,

If America could be nicer,

Lest we need Mexican Foreign Aid.

VERSE 2

Even in states which are blessed beyond measure.

In terms of wealth, if not governmentally.

Friendship with Mexico is such a pleasure.

Like, when they need Pesos, monumentally.

VERSE 3

Consider the case of a Southwest state.

So 'humongus' that they got their own grid.

Believing the ERCOT system was first rate,

'Til climate change made Texans ask: "What the frigg'?!?"

VERSE 4

Once, we all looked upon Texas with envy.

Then power plants shut down, windmills didn't spin.

The Lone Star State went from a land of plenty,

To where, energy wise, they just couldn't win.

VERSE 5

It seems when infrastructure needs a redo,

Our congressmen can't find much common ground.

All was not lost, for Senator Ted Cruz knew,

Where the money for that project could be found.

CHORUS

Mexico!

Yeah, Mexico!

Our partners in foreign trade.

While his trip to Cancun,

Made him look like a buffoon,

Cruz went for Mexican Foreign Aid.

VERSE 6

So, if you look outside and see ice cycles,

Hanging from your natural gas pipeline.

Though it might seem that you're in a pickle,

If you've got the right friends, you'll do just fine.

CHORUS

Mexicans!

Yeah, Mexicans!

Our partners in foreign trade.

Maybe it would be wiser,

If Americans could be nicer,

Lest we need Mexican Foreign Aid.

The End
