Never Connected

An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.

VERSE 1

On a breezy day in Autumn,

Down strips of concrete I walked.

Til my tablet revealed a problem,

Two simple words made me balk.

VERSE 2

Even still I knocked on the door,

Facing little chance of success.

The look on his face was hard to ignore

But that wasn't what caused my distress.

Cause he was...

CHORUS 1

Never Connected.

A condition that I dread.

Never Connected.

I should have stayed in bed.

At first he was furious.

Then I made him 'cable curious'.

Yeah, he was Never Connected,

Now I've got his PIA.

BRIDGE

He saved his walls for works of art,

But his old TV's were not smart.

Which put my product knowledge to the test.

Since recording was not a requirement,

I could put DVR's into retirement.

Deciding an AppleTV would do best!

But, in the end, I had to commit to.

Downloading to his 6 year old Roku,

Apps by Spectrum, HBO, ESPN, Showtime, Fox Sports, Disney, and all the rest.

VERSE 3

The lady out front was nothing but fine.

So I strolled up and gave her a wink.

She said: "Hey mister, you're way outta line!"

I said: "Young lady, it's not what you think!"

VERSE 4

She shot me back a look that was hard.

And I thought: "Wooaa, this one is mean!

Why would she always keep up her guard?"

The answer came with a glance at my screen.

Cause she was...

CHORUS 2

Never Connected.

A condition that I dread.

Never Connected.

I should have stayed in bed.

Pulled out an ID, which revealed,

An age I'd rather have concealed.

Yeah, she was Never Connected,

Now her autograph is on the dotted line.

The End.
