Sweet Submission

An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.

INTRO

Referee.

It's a verb and it's a noun.

It's effects can be profound.

So be it, and do it...

Referee.

VERSE 1

You develop a u-nique empathy,

When one grows up in the USA.

All of our parents work hard so that we,

Can have teeth like Tom Cruise on display.

VERSE 2

If that were the exception, we'd still hear:

"Say that one more time, I'll knock your teeth in."

But now, there's a new way to elicit fear:

"Time to feel the pain of sweet submission?"

CHORUS

Sweet Submission.

Taught by Ju-jitsu senseis.

Sweet Submission.

Twist a joint, or cut off airways.

When passions are strong,

But the bastard has pearly whites.

Wrecking that smile would be wrong.

So remember to finish your fights,

Through sweet submission.

VERSE 3

Expecting much blood on your face and hands.

That's right, you take pride in all of your scars.

Meeting with a grappler wasn't in your plans,

But dude, you should thank your lucky stars.

VERSE 4

If the victor had gone with "The Twister",

Every breath you took would be a reminder.

He 'triangled' your ass. Now call him "Mister",

Although a heel hook would have been kinder.

CHORUS

Sweet Submission.

Taught by Ju-jitsu senseis.

Sweet Submission.

Twist a joint, or cut off airways.

When passions are strong,

But the bastard has pearly whites.

Wrecking that smile would be wrong.

So remember to finish your fights,

Through sweet submission.

BRIDGE

Fist fights keep on until someone is dropped.

Best for all if he has the brains to stay down.

But those who bet on him are in anguish.

Wrestling matches aren't likely to be stopped.

Less blood is spilled when tussling on the ground.

But who will act on the tap out of the vanquished?

Now we've come to the purpose of this poem:

Let's give onlookers responsibility,

For the well being of those intertwined?

Get in there and work to separate them.

Put down the camera, and be a referee.

Because combatants are not of sound mind.

CHORUS

Sweet Submission.

Taught by Ju-jitsu senseis.

Sweet Submission.

Twist a joint, or cut off airways.

When passions are strong,

But the bastard has pearly whites.

Wrecking that smile would be wrong.

So remember to finish your fights,

Through sweet submission.
