The Surgical Option
An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro
Consider reading along to my Spoken Verse Performance.
VERSE 1
Once we all thought,
That only people caught,
The bug that we were,
Warned about by Dr. Li.
But then came the news,
From pet shops and zoos,
That also at risk were,
Fluffy members of our family.
CHORUS
So,
Have a long chat,
With your Tomcat.
Don't send mixed signs,
To your favorite felines.
Explain, with great insistence,
That they should maintain social distance.
Or else face the surgical option.
VERSE 2
Sure, it might seem kind of mean,
Putting bad kitties into quarantine.
Hey, who's in charge there!?!
It's time to stop being a figurehead.
Here's how to deal with free range pets!
Keep them from going beyond the steps.
By amputating a leg.
Yeah, turn Fluffy into a tri-ped.
CHORUS
So,
Have a long chat,
With your Tomcat.
Lay down the law,
To friends with four paws.
Explain, with great insistence,
That they should maintain social distance.
Or else face the surgical option.
BRIDGE
Tough love!
The term to use is,
Tough love!
When cats and their humans are having talks.
Before you say that I'm crazy,
Ask yourself if you're too lazy,
To put on a mask and gloves,
Every time you clean the litter box.
CHORUS
So,
Have a long chat,
With your Tomcat.
Don't send mixed signs,
To your favorite felines.
Explain, with great insistence,
That they should maintain social distance.
Or else face the surgical option.
VERSE 3
For years, we've been relying on vets,
To remove sensitive parts from our pets.
Just so that no more,
Strays could be engendered.
If your top cats are prone to roam,
It's your responsibility to keep them home.
Because ours is the species,
Which could be endangered.
CHORUS
So,
Have a long chat,
With your Tomcat.
Lay down the law,
To friends with four paws.
Explain, with great insistence,
That they should maintain social distance.
Or else face the surgical option.
CLOSE OUT
Now parents...
If you have teenagers in your casa,
Whose traipsing around causes much drama.
Before they venture beyond the door,
You can share this poem, as a metaphor.
Use it to explain, with great insistence,
That they should maintain social distance.
Or else face the surgical option.
The End
