What You Focus On [Expands]
An original poem by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

VERSE 1
You need a Christmas poem,
But nothing's coming to mind.
Better craft a scene to show 'em,
Or your work will be maligned.
VERSE 2
So give up multitasking,
Yeah, the chores have to wait.
Soon in glory you'll be basking.
Once you begin to fixate.
You better learn how to fixate.
CHORUS
A certain type of obsession,
Is what writing demands.
Better embrace the expression:
What you focus on expands.
To make writing your profession,
It helps to understand...
That it's OK to fixate.
VERSE 3
Everywhere you see Christmas,
But nothing's taking hold.
Go on and tell your Missus,
To use the Bundt baking mold.
VERSE 4
Before going on that errand,
To get a 9 x 13 pan.
Time for you to grow a pair, and
Remind your lady who's the man.
That's right, Hoss. You da man!
CHORUS
A certain type of obsession,
Is what writing demands.
Better embrace the expression:
What you focus on expands.
To make writing your profession,
It helps to understand...
That it's essential to fixate.
VERSE 5
Now, think of life before you met her:
Air mattress on concrete, so sad.
Your life now is so much better.
Maybe just one trip ain't so bad.
VERSE 6
Got the cake pan, so now you're ready,
To make this excursion worthwhile.
Grab a Christmas cake mix with funfetti.
You'll find it in the bake goods isle.
Yeah, she won't need to fake a smile.
CHORUS
A certain type of obsession,
Is what writing demands.
Better embrace the expression:
What you focus on expands.
To make writing your profession,
It helps to understand,
That, like anything else,
Fixation is good, in moderation.
The End
