Michael Bennet Is Our Best               [Part 1 of my Sen. Bennet Trilogy]

Original song lyrics by Chrome Dome Mike Kimbro

The composer and performer of the music, Mark Boon, is the sole owner of the song "Streets of Amsterdam". This instrumental can be found in the Structure Scheme for these song lyrics.

Consider reading along to my performance recordings:  Singing  or  Spoken Verse.

VERSE 1

Soon you'll need to choose,

Someone who will stand out from the rest.

Here's the news that'll light your fuse:

Michael Bennet is our best.

VERSE 2

There's no finer man.

So we need to put him to the test.

Understand, and you'll be a fan,

Yeah, Michael Bennet is our best.

BRIDGE 1 - Instrumental

VERSE 3

First we'll have to clean,

Nepotism, Greed, and so much more.

Here's my dream: Michael's White House Team,

Will feel there's no revolving door.

BRIDGE 2 - Instrumental

BRIDGE 3 - Organ

I feel it's a crime,

To spread toxicity.

Let's restore the shine,

To Lady Liberty.

Vote in twenty two oh.

For a fellow who knows,

How to handle,

Lies and scandal,

Thanks to time at,

Yale! Yo!

CLOSE

When we need to choose,

Someone who will stand out from the rest.

Here's the news that'll light your fuse:

Michael Bennet is our best.

OPTIONAL REPRISE - follows lengthy instrument solo

When we need to choose,

Someone who will stand out from the rest.

Here's the news that'll light your fuse:

Michael Bennet is our best.

PS - As with a select few of my other efforts, particularly "The Colocation Center", "My Belle Meade Bride", and "The Las Vegas Strip", I was left with what I call "poetic remnants". These are verses which didn't quite make the grade, but might shed light on the literary methods which I employ.

This work's only such remnant worth sharing comes from an early point, well before I had settled on a particular pattern of rhyme. Obviously, on this verse I was toying with ABC ABC:

VERSE - Dream Ticket

In Kentucky, The Bluegrass State,

Two newlyweds predicted,

Just like Nostradamas,

Other candidates will be prostrate,

Before the Bennet-Harris dream ticket,

As we hear them utter: "No Mas".

And there was also the following remnant:

BRIDGE

Born in New Dehli,

To parents in the foreign service.

Who brought him (back) home,

And raised him up right.

Got a Yale Law degree.

Now he works hard to serve us.

Let's tame a bad over comb.

Senator Bennet is ready to fight.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
